Nurse Clinics
Our veterinary nurses are highly qualified and highly skilled staff members, who can help with a wide range of pet problems. They are able to advise on many topics such as weight, behaviour, routine medications and routine vaccinations, as well as performing blood tests and many other services.
For those of you with wriggly companions, we recommend our expert nurses for your pet’s manicure requirements! Our nurses can also perform anal gland expressions, for those pets with ongoing problems in this area.
Should your pet become obese, our nurse-led weight clinics can be a tremendous help in shifting those excess pounds. Pets are about as fond of dieting as we are, so every little help counts! We recommend a visit every 2-4 weeks depending on how much input you and your pet need. Our nurses will work out your pet’s calorie requirements for a steady weight loss, rather than a crash diet, and will support you and your companion every step of the way. They can give diet advice as well as tips on how to increase exercise in a variety of species, and support your pet to a healthier, more active lifestyle.
Our nurses also lead clinics to help those pets with on-going conditions, such as diabetes mellitus, Cushing’s syndrome, hypo- or hyperthyroidism, and osteoarthritis. These can all be challenging conditions to understand and to manage at home. Our nurses can help to break the information down into manageable chunks, assist with medication administration technique, and support you through the often emotionally draining challenges that arise. Many of these conditions require on-going tests such as blood pressure checks, blood tests and pain assessment. These are also services that our nurses can provide from their specialist knowledge base.
Nurse clinics are a valuable source of knowledge, and also provide an alternative to a full veterinary consultation. If your pet simply needs a nail trim, booking with our nurses instead of our vets will save you money! Similarly, if your pet is receiving monthly injections or having routine medication checks, our nurses can provide consultations between your veterinary check-ups, to help keep your costs down.
For those very worrying times when your pet is ill and you are not sure whether you need to see a veterinary surgeon, our nurses can provide a triage and point-of-care service. If they feel your pet needs to be admitted for fluid therapy or veterinary assessment, they can action this, as well as providing first aid for your pet.
Consultations with a nurse are available by appointment only, and can be arranged by giving us a call or using our on-line booking platform.
